The 57th annual CMT Music Awards event took place at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on April 2, 2023.
Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini presided over the event, which was broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
The only fan-voted awards program for country music is the CMT Music Awards. After the switch to CBS, this will be the second ceremony, Kelsea Ballerini’s third, and Kane Brown’s fourth.
Ballerini devoted the ceremony to the Covenant School shooting victims from 2023.
CMT announced on March 27 that Shania Twain, an icon in the country music industry, will receive the CMT Equal Play Award.
The prize honors a performer who “recognizes an artist who is a prominent and outspoken champion for elevating diverse and marginalized voices in country music.”
Past winners include Linda Martell and Jennifer Nettles.
