How to reset service advancetrac

Full features of the AdvanceTrac system can be restored by pressing the switch again or by turning off and restarting the engine. When the traction control system is off, the stability control off light will illuminate steadily. Pressing the stability control switch again will turn off the stability control off light.

When your Ford vehicle senses an issue in which there may be a loss of control, the vehicle may then swerve or skid. The vehicle may also lose traction.

When The Service Advancetrac Light Comes On

There are a number of issues that can make this service light come on. These include a faulty steering angle sensor, a problem with the steering rack itself, an object is lodged between one of the wheels or a possible faulty wheel speed sensor.

Can You Continue Driving With the Service AdvanceTrac Light On? When faced with an AdvanceTrac system issue, you can still drive your vehicle without any ill-effects. However, most vehicles automatically disable all AdvanceTrac related functions, when an active system fault has been detected.

AdvanceTrac® is an electronic stability system designed to further improve control in even the most challenging conditions (like a typical Colorado winter). When AdvanceTrac is equipped, stopping power is increased, traction is improved, handling is more responsive and overall stability is enhanced.

The traction control system in your vehicle exists as a driving aid during adverse conditions, such as rain, snow, ice, or poorly maintained roads. When the system is not working, it will illuminate a warning light on the dashboard cluster.

It is only safe to drive with the TCS light on if it appears when you are losing traction: it means the system is engaging. Driving without traction control can make your vehicle susceptible to spinning out and sliding around on the road. Driving with your TCS Light on can be dangerous.

Quick Answer: How Much Does It Cost To Fix The Traction Control System?? The average cost for a traction control switch replacement is between $82 and $94. Labor costs are estimated between $39 and $51 while parts are priced at $43. Estimate does not include taxes and fees.

Traction control and ABS most commonly develop problems with the wheel speed sensors. These sensors are moderately exposed to the elements, leaving them slightly vulnerable. The magnetic operation on the traction control sensors or Anti-lock Braking sensors can be interrupted by dirt or other buildups.

ABS is Malfunctioning

Traction control and ABS often share the same control module and internal self-diagnostics system. As a result, sometimes an issue in the ABS can trigger the traction control light to come on. However, if this is the case, then both the ABS and traction control lights will be on.

Turn the traction control system on

All you need to do is just start the car and find the switch. The switch may have the word “ESC”, “ESP” or “DSC”. Click and hold it for about 3 – 5 seconds and then check the dashboard again.

When this warning indicator light comes on in the dashboard, this could be an indication of several issues such as faulty wheel speed sensors, a faulty steering angle sensor, a faulty rotational speed sensor or a problem with the steering rack.

In some vehicles it is located under the hood and/or is a part of the ABS control module. Other vehicles may have the traction control module located in the interior or trunk areas.
