An excellent and fast internet connection has become an integral part of our daily lives. We need it for work, school, business, entertainment and so much more. That’s why if your internet is not working well, it easily disrupts the flow of work.
If you are experiencing such a problem with your Asus Router, you can resolve it by resetting the device. How to do it? Here’s a guide on how to reset your Asus router:
Step by Step Guide to Reset Asus Router
- Locate the Reset Button
If you’re not familiar where it is, you may need to take a look at User’s Manual and you’ll be able to locate it. The reset button should be on the upper right corner of the router.
- You will need to Press the Reset Button
For pressing the reset button, you can use your phone’s sim tray opener as it needs a sharp tool to press the reset button. As you insert the pin in the button, hold it in a matter of seconds. About less than 20 seconds should be enough until you see the power blinking informing that you have successfully reset it.
Important Note: After successfully resetting the router, it’s normal that only the power light will remain on. You will notice after a few minutes that the other 3 light buttons: 5GHz, 2.4GHz and the Internet will turn back on. This means that the resetting process has been performed and ready to be set up with a new setting.
- You should Start Setting Up the New Router Settings
- You will notice that when the router has successfully connected, it will prompt a notification asking you to fix the settings. There are times that the message prompt fails, so if it happens that you don’t see it.
- As you go to the directed page, you will be need to login to the system. Just use the keyword “admin” for both the username and password upon logging in. This is the default login code after successful resetting. If this doesn’t work, take a look at the back of your writer. Usually, you will find the default username password there. Then, just click on proceed.
- You will be redirected to a page where you will need to change the router’s password. It’s important that you change the password from the default one to protect your connection from being used by outsiders. Once you’re done setting up your password, just press next to go continue configuring the settings.
- After changing the password, access the page, “wireless setting” and input the SSID (the network’s name) and password (network key). You’ll need to input for both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, making sure that both will have a network name and shouldn’t be identical. While for the network key, it’s okay to use identical names.
- After changing the settings, a message prompt will inform that it was successfully changed and saved.
- Test your Device if it successfully Connects to the Router
Have your device connect to the Asus router’s new wireless name and encode the right password from the last change. You will able to connect to the internet and start using your apps and games.
It would also help if you restart your device just to refresh its settings and have better chances in connecting it to the new router connection.
Important Tips:
- When changing the settings, especially the account name and password, make sure to keep an extra copy of the newly reset password just in case you forget you forget it. So as to refrain yourself from doing the resetting process all over again.
- When pressing the reset button with a pin and it didn’t reset after holding it, try it again. Maybe the amount of time holding the pin inside the reset button wasn’t enough to reset the button.
- If the four lights on the router have not been on during the first try, the reset process was not successful, try it again until you see the four lights on in the router.
- If the resetting is still unsuccessful and you’re encountering problems, you will need to contact Asus’ Customer Service for better technical support.
