Is sure pronounced Shore?
“Shore” and “sure” are homonyms. “pee -yer.” BTW, from what I’ve noticed, the “shore/sure” pronunciation originates from the Northeast – NY, NJ, New England – whereas the “stir/sher” pronunciation is more prevalent in the Midwest.

Why is the s in sure pronounced as ‘shure‘? Sound change. Once upon a time, it was pronounced more like “syoor”. Over time, the “y” sound affected the “s” sound and made it more like a “sh” sound.
