How to know mouse dpi

Change mouse sensitivity (DPI) settings

The mouse LCD will briefly display the new DPI setting. If your mouse doesn’t have DPI on-the-fly buttons, start Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, select the mouse you are using, click basic settings, locate Sensitivity, make your changes.

No. Obviously mice come with a default (usually 1000 I think) and depending on the mouse, you can change it. Some mice just have on the fly buttons for like 3 settings. Example, 400, 1000, 2600.

Most regular mice have a standard DPI of about 800 to 1200 DPI. However, you can adjust their speed using software. This does not mean that you change the mouse’s DPI though – you only adjust a multiplier of that default speed using an app designed for this purpose.

The answer to your question is really simple, pro players use those settings because of microsoft, because of the intellimouse or the wheel mouse optical, those mice only could do 400dpi, and many pro players learned to play with those mice, so they got used to 400dpi.

Keeping your DPI low allows you to keep an in-game sensitivity number that is reasonable. Adding to this, I think 400dpi may be the native resolution (or close to the native resolution) of many mice, thus making the mouse more accurate at this dpi.

400 DPI = 1 inch mouse movement, moves the cursor 400 pixels. The lower the DPI, the less sensitive your mouse.

Best VALORANT sensitivity settings

A DPI range between 400-800 is preferable and will give a smoother and more reliable crosshair movement. As a basic example, 500 DPI x 0.50 Valorant sensitivity = 250 eDPI. Most of the players fall between 200 – 400 eDPI range when they first start playing.

A lower 400 DPI to 1000 DPI is best for FPS and other shooter games. A 1000 DPI to 1200 DPI is the best setting for Real-Time strategy games.

With an overall of 1000 you should be fine, as long as you can trace heads and aim comfortably. it’s not a bad sens. I play on 800dpi 1.09 sens and i find it find. Most pros play on an effective dpi of anywhere from 600 to 1600.

2,000 dpi can work, depending on what your in game sensitivity is set to. Your dpi * in-game sensitivity will give you your edpi (effective dots per inch) and the edpi is what really counts. If you have 2,000 dpi and 1 sensitivity (So 2,000 edpi) that’s not too bad.

When it comes to shooters like Fortnite: Battle Royale, it’s wise to choose a DPI setting between 400-1000 DPI. The exact number depends on your own personal preferences. Anything higher than this may prove too sensitive for lining up precision headshots quickly. We find it easier to aim using a lower DPI.

For most Fortnite players using a DPI of either 400 or 800 makes most sense. So if you have a large or high-resolution 4K monitor you might consider using 1200-1600 DPI. Because higher resolution monitors have more pixels, so you may need to use a different DPI.

For first-person shooters, you want to be aiming for 400-800 DPI. Whilst this seems low, games like CS:GO and Overwatch relies on precise accuracy – something that higher DPI simply doesn’t give. A lot of current pros utilize this DPI range as it provides the highest levels of precision and accuracy.

So, coming back to the main question, the best DPI for FPS games is something which cannot be pinpointed. But, the right DPI setting for a mouse for FPS gaming should lie in the range of 400 to 800 DPI. Beginners may even go up to 1600 DPI and gradually lower the DPI setting as they become more experienced.

400 DPI and 2 sensitivity is the same as 1000 DPI and 0.8 sensitivity. In theory, the highest DPI would be the best since that would give you the most accurate representation of your physical mouse movements on screen.

In terms of precision 500dpi is sufficient so you don’t need to worry about that. Many people still play on 400dpi.

Usually after like 800~ DPI mouse will split pixels into subpixels to achieve higher DPIs, which worsen precision. Besides 1600 is really max DPI anyone good would play at. Maybe except some exceptions, but most pros play under 1000 DPI!

800 dpi, 15 sens is about triple what most pros use to arm aim. The reason lower sens/DPI is recommended is because you are moving more of your muscles and doing that a ton contributes to muscle memory.

Pro DPI Settings

If you spend some time looking around, you’ll notice that most pros use a DPI between 400 and 800 when gaming.

For me 1200 DPI is way too high, however high DPI is the standard for most FPS players. If you have a lot of space to work with then i suggest lowering your DPI to 800, however if you’re comfortable than 1200 DPI then go for it.
