How do you use a plus nut tool?
How do you install a plus nut without special tools?
Put a wrench on the oversized nut to prevent it from spinning and a socket on the bolt head. Now, while holding the box wrench, start tightening the bolt. This will collapse the rivet nut on the back side and lock it into the hole. There’s no need to go ‘gorilla’ on it, just stop when it won’t tighten any more.
Are plus nuts stronger than Rivnuts?
Plusnuts are much more easily installed (you really don’t need an expensive tool for a plusnut) Plusnuts exhibit much greater pull-out strength. Plusnuts have double the thickness range. I have much higher confidence in their ability to hold (look how big they are compared to the rivnuts!)
How do you remove Riv nuts?
Can you drill out a Rivnut?
Install a new rivnut. It may pay to pull the fork and/or the bottom bracket to see if you have access to remove the remnants from the frame. You can usually drill them out with a fast drill and some varying pressure. To replace you will need new rivnuts and an appropriate puller/mandrel.

Spin the nut down tight onto the washer and steel sheet, then while holding the bolt still with a wrench, use a second wrench to tighten the nut down.

Nutserts are strong but they can lose their grip on the parent metal and just spin in circles if the bolt seizes to it. Off-roading is not significantly harder on the wiper motor than on-roading.
Are rivet nuts good?
Their ease of use, high shear and tension strength, and lightning fast installation times are upgrades over traditional bolt and nut, and weld nut applications. A main strength of rivet nuts are that, just like with traditional rivets, they are blind.
