How does a wireless rain sensor work?
The Wireless Rain Sensor is a very sophisticated Sensor Transmitter and Receiver system designed to work with all 24 volt alternating current (VAC) control circuits and 24 VAC pump start relay circuits. The Receiver has three Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Each LED can indicate two conditions.
What should I set my rain sensor to?
Other types operate by weighing the rain collected, or use electrodes to detect the amount of water collected. IFAS researchers recommend rain sensor thresholds of 1/4” for 2 or 3 day per week irrigation with no more than 1/2” for 1 day per week irrigation. Remember, the lower the setting, the more water saved.
Are rain sensors worth it?
Some municipalities charge more for water than others, so if water is expensive at your home or business, then a rain sensor is practically a necessity if you have a sprinkler system. So every time the rain sensor kept this system from running during the rain, the property owner would save $19.29 on the water bill.
How much are rain sensors?
Most rain sensors can be purchased for less than $100.
How long does it take for a rain sensor to dry out?
All Hunter rain sensors have an adjustable “Vent Ring.” Dry out time could be as little as 4 hours, depending upon weather conditions (temperature and humidity) and how the vent ring is set. If the weather remains cold and damp, your sensor could be active for months.
