Is i7 9700K overkill for gaming?
The 9700k is the most powerful gaming CPU. It has no hyperthreading (HTT) but all 8 cores can clock up to 4.6ghz (which is bonkers for 8 cores) and that’s not even overclocked. Games prefer fewer cores, higher frequency, and higher IPC so it doesn’t need HTT.
What BIOS update do I need for i7 9700K?
For a recently bought i7–9700K you need at least BIOS F14. New CPUs are stepping R0, these need BIOS F14 or later.
Does the i7 9700K come with cooler?
Like Intel’s Core i9-9900K, the i7–9700K includes eight physical cores. The Ryzen also comes bundled with a capable cooler, whereas Intel makes you pay for a high-end thermal solution.
Is the i7 9700K good in 2020?
Intel dropped Hyper-Threading between the 8th and 9th Generation Core i7, so though it has more cores (eight versus six), it actually has fewer addressable threads than its Core i7-8700K predecessor. Ultimately, if you need a robust CPU for high-frame-rate gaming today, the Core i7–9700K is among the best.
How long will an i7 9700k last?
For Gaming Only, it will be enough for the next 4-5 years. If you about streaming and gaming on the same pc, I’m sure in 4-5 year’s it won’t be enough.
Should I buy i7 9700k or i9 9900k?
Yes, you read that right. A 1-5% speed boost in gaming performance for the i9–9900k, even though the i9–9900k costs roughly 25% more than the i7–9700k! The near-identical gaming performance and lack of hyper-threading makes the i7–9700k the better-value choice for a gamer.
Is it worth getting i9 over i7?
I9 is still better than i7 with higher core count and cache, but the naming convention is much more arbitrary with no i7 vs i9 feature differences. 10 core or more = i9, 8 core = i7, and that’s it.
Is it worth upgrading from i7 9700K to i9 9900k?
No because the 9700k is faster in some games but if you stream or do more intensive task the 9900k will have an advantage. But if all your doing is gaming the 8700k, 9700k, and 9900k are pretty close at the same clocks. There are game where the 9900k is faster but its few and far between.
Is it worth upgrading from i7 8700k to i7 9700K?
9700k will perform slightly better, and have slightly better thermals. However, in gaming depending on the resolution an 8700k could proba LG fit your needs perfectly. get the 8700k, and a better cooler. easily a better choice.
Is it worth upgrading to 10th Gen Intel?
Upgrading from a 9th Gen to 10th or 11th Gen Intel chip (assuming you aren’t making a jump like a Celeron to an i7) is a “more money than brains” type of move. Unless you are switching from maybe i3 to i5/i7 or i5 to i7 its not worth it because the performance is not that much different from 9th gen to 10th gen.
Should I buy i7 8700K or 9700K?
9700K will most likely be the better CPU, cause cores > threads. Also the i7–8700K is not cheap at all anymore, it has been rising quite a lot in price lately so unless you find a good deal on the i7–8700K go for the (also overpriced) i7–9700K i would say. But 2 threads feeding one core can be faster in certain tasks.
Is i7 9700K better than 8700K?
The Intel Core i7–9700K is also rated with a base clock of 3.6GHz and can boost one its processor cores all the way to 4.9GHz. Comparatively, the Intel Core i7–8700K starts at a tick higher 3.7GHz base frequency, but can’t go nearly as fast with its maximum 4.7GHz boost clock.
Do i7 processors run hot?
For Ultrabook, i7 are generally much hotter than i5 model, this would keep you warm in the winter particularly in cold philadelphia. For Workstation or Subnotebook (Field Machine). I7 would be much faster than i5 due to more cores, higher frequency. I mean, like we processor few million lines of Data within the SPSS.

What does the i7 9700K compare to?
The 9700K has stock base / boost clocks of 3.6 / 4.6 GHz and a single core boost of 4.9 GHz (compared to 3.6, 4.7 and 5.0 GHz for the flagship 9900K). Mainstream PC games do not benefit from more than six threads, so at $350 (25% cheaper than the 9900K), the 9700K offers far better value for money to gamers.
What’s better AMD or Intel?

Is AMD now better than Intel?
Each chip has comparable performance against competing chips in its price range, making this largely a wash for most users. Winner: AMD. For professionals on the hunt for performance in content creation and productivity applications, the winner of AMD vs Intel CPUs goes to AMD on the strength of its higher core counts.
Is Ryzen better than i7?
AMD’s Ryzen 7 CPUs clearly outperform the comparative i7 series from Intel, so this first round goes to them, but while the number of cores undoubtedly influences performance, gamers will benefit more from a faster single-core clock speed.
Should I buy Ryzen or Intel?
As a general rule of thumb, AMD Ryzen processors are better at multi-tasking, while Intel Core CPUs are faster when it comes to single-core tasks. However, Ryzen CPUs tend to offer better value for money. Choosing the best hardware for your new gaming PC is never easy.
Which is better Ryzen or Intel?
The higher the numeral, the higher the spec of the processor. The extra processor cores offered by Ryzen compared to Intel’s Kaby and Coffee Lake CPUs means that certain tasks will run MUCH faster.
Is Ryzen or Intel better for gaming?
AMD takes the lead on the mid-range CPU bracket too, with the Ryzen 7 3700X smashing the Core i7-9700K in general. The Intel Core i7-9700K is by no means a slouch, and it is regarded as one of the best for gaming. Despite this, the 3700X has twice as many threads and still comes out cheaper than its Intel counterpart.
