Is AMD easier to install?
AMD stock heat sinks install very easily, Intel ones a little less so. Aftermarket heatsinks that use a backplate will be virtually identical for either.
How do I mount am4 CPU?
Is installing a CPU easy?
Fortunately, like many other aspects of building a PC, installing a CPU is a very simple process. So, no need to stress about getting it wrong, as we’ll guide you through each step.
How do I install a AMD CPU fan?
Does thermal paste expire?
Believe it or not, much like medicine and food, thermal paste also has a shelf life and can go bad. Generally manufacturers give their thermal paste a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. That’s if it sits under optimal conditions which may not be the case for you.
Can you install CPU cooler without backplate?
NO. You need to install the backplate to have something for the cooler mounting to screw into. It also prevents damage to the board from flexing.
Is a CPU cooler backplate necessary?
Yes it’s actually necessary in the case of the Wraith cooler. Because if it’s your CPU backplate then you wouldn’t be able to attach your CPU cooler in the first place. It’ll be fine not to have your mobo I/O plate in place, it’s just that more dust will be able to get into your PC.
Do I need the CPU backplate?
The backplate is only there to hold the cooler and prevent the motherboard from bending, it’s not necessary with waterblocks. Your problem is probably overheating caused by poor contact between the cpu and the waterblock.
How do I put the backplate on my CPU?
your cpu cooler will have stand off screws. insert those, and put the backplate on (tower standing up, both case sides off.) tighten the nuts to secure the backplate. place tower flat, with backplate facing down, and install cpu cooler with screw into your now already secure and tightened standoffs / backplate.
How do you install a liquid CPU cooler?
How do I keep my am4 backplate in place?
The only way to keep it in place and not have it loose is to either hold it with your other hand where the motherboard cutout is on your case or when you take it out. Or you use some double sided tape to keep it in place on the motherboard so you won’t lose it in the case.
How do spring screws attach to CPU fans?
Position the CPU cooler so that the four spring–screws on the heatsink align with the four screw holes of the backplate. Once aligned, carefully place the heatsink onto the CPU. Using a screwdriver, turn each spring–screw a half turn clockwise to ensure the spring–screw makes a connection with the backplate.
Do I have to screw in CPU cooler?
I installed the CPU and am trying to put the stock cooler in right now. I removed the brackets and have tried to just screw in the CPU cooler, but the screws will not go down.

Why do CPU fan screws have springs?
The spring screws are there to put the correct pressure on the CPU and no, removing them won’t make the cooler go deeper into the CPU/Case.
How tight should a CPU cooler screw be?
In most cases you only screw it in 3-5 full turns. Then you wiggle on the heatsink and you’ll notice that it’s rock solid. When the cooler is mounted too tight, the motherboard and CPU will bend and not make contact properly.
Is too much thermal paste bad?
Putting too much paste on a socket generally won’t hurt thermal performance, because the act of tightening down the cooler squeezes out the excess. Too little paste is bad, but anything above the minimum threshold will have the same effect once the cooler is tightened down.
Can a heavy CPU cooler damage motherboard?
Short answer, yes. Heavy CPU coolers can bend and, possibly, break motherboards.
What happens if you don’t use a CPU cooler?
CPUs with deceased fans will overheat. Computers usually have built-in safe guards to shut down or slow down the CPU when it gets too hot to prevent it from breaking. The CPU will break if the computer is continually used with a deceased CPU cooler fan.
Can I use toothpaste as thermal paste?
Toothpaste is also an excellent substitute for thermal paste. Its structure decays after a few days, especially if the operating temperatures are high.
Can a PC work without fans?
Although some of your components can experience some heat throttling because of little amount of air entering the computer case, a computer doesn’t necessarily have to have fans on the case. It can work with just the just the cpu fan, the gpu fan, and the psu fan (you can‘t really get a fan out of a psu).
