How to clean under bed

Make It Part of Your Routine

But a good rule of thumb is to vacuum under your bed twice a month. At the very least once a month. The point is to not give those nasty items time to gather and pollute the air you breathe. So the more you do it, the cleaner your air will be.

1. Use a duster with a long handle. With all of the handy products that are out there, it’s literally never been easier to clean those pesky spots underneath your bed. For instance, to tackle annoying under-the-bed dust, look no further than a duster with an extendable handle — Swiffer makes some great ones.

Air out your room as often as possible.

Whenever you can, open up the doors and windows in your bedrooms to let the air circulate. This will discourage dust from accumulating under your bed, and it can freshen up your home as well!

Why Is My Bedroom So Dusty? It is because dust has a higher density in a bedroom than any other place. This is because the bedroom is smaller than other rooms yet you have tons of stuff left open. Hair, clothes/ bedding fiber, dust mites, pet dander, and microorganisms are some of the common bedroom dust contributors.

“The bedroom, for example, has a tendency to generate dust from the bedding fibers, dust mites, and skin cells. To keep a handle on it, make sure you’re washing bedding regularly (including your pillows), and vacuuming carpets and rugs often (with a clean filter on your vacuum).

Unfortunately, keeping your windows open will not reduce the amount of dust in your home; in fact, doing this could increase it. There is a lot of dust in the air outside, which is comprised of dirt, sand, pollen, spores,’bits’ of insects and a great deal more.

1. Dust Mites. Dust mites live in your pillows, mattress and bedding and their feces can irritate you, causing cold-like symptoms, asthma and allergies.

Dust accumulation in your home is a product of airflow, either because too much dirty, dust-filled air is floating around your home or because not enough air is spreading through the home, allowing dust to settle.

It all starts with a regular weekly cleaning: washing and dry-cleaning pillows to rid them of dust mites, vacuuming furniture and drapes regularly, and changing in fresh filters in your HVAC system monthly can go a long way to helping you combat dust.

When doing your thorough cleaning, dust the room before vacuuming so you can vacuum up the particles that float into the air as you work and settle on the floor.

The science behind why damp dusting is more efficient than a dry cloth comes from the fact that a damp cloth introduces capillary force to the dust particles. In short, the damp cloth draws the dust particles in and removes them from the area instead of moving them around.

Turn off the power source, then get on a step stool. Use damp paper towels to wipe greasy dust from the casing and a soft-bristle brush dampened with a mild cleanser, like Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid Dish Soap ($2, amazon.com) to loosen the dust on the blades, then rinse with a damp paper towel.

Use a Damp, Clean Cloth

Be more effective in your cleaning routine. Using a soft microfiber cloth, a large bucket of water, and a disinfectant solution you can collect much more of the dust.

Dust includes tiny particles of debris and deceased skin. Its small size means it can be inhaled and potentially evoke an immune reaction. Such allergic reactions may be minor or major depending on the individual. Dust can also serve as a “fomite”, potentially carrying viruses and possibly passing on infections.
