To clean the charging contacts on Powerbeats Pro, use a cotton swab slightly dampened with warm water. To clean the charging pins on the case, use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with warm water. If necessary, you can slightly dampen the cotton swab or cloth with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol.

Use warm water and mild soap on a damp cloth to remove dirt and earwax from the eartips. Don’t use harsh cleaning products. Rinse the soap away completely with warm water. Let your eartips air dry.

An IPX4 rating means that the product has been validated for effectiveness against ingress by splashing water: “Water splashing against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect.” The Powerbeats Pro are not rated for submersion in water.

Apple confirmed they are rated IPX4, meaning it’s okay to wear them outside in a rainstorm, but don’t submerge them or take them swimming.

You’ll also be made frustratingly aware of all these issues when you take the Powerbeats Pro with you on any form of public transit – for all its other features, the Powerbeats Pro still don’t offer noise–cancellation.

Apple AirPods Pro vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: Sound quality

The AirPods Pro offer markedly better sound quality than the standard AirPods. Audio is rich and full, with plenty of detail and midrange sparkle. However, to hear them at their rhythmic best, you’ll want to switch off noise-cancelling.

The Beats Powerbeats block out more than the AirPods by a landslide. With all of the talk about battery life and extra nifty features, it sometimes gets lost that these are both still headphones. That means that they should, at the very least, not sound like crap.

Depending on what you’re looking for you don’t want to disqualify the AirPods Pro just yet. The Powerbeats Pro are the winner here because, unlike the AirPods Pro, they have full playback controls including volume so you never have to reach for your phone while pumping out a set.

Answer phone calls

To answer or end a call, press the Beats logo button once. To answer a second incoming call and put the first call on hold, press once. When two calls are active, press once to switch between calls. To decline an incoming call, press and hold the Beats logo button for 1 second.

We thought the new buds could launch at WWDC 2020, but with no new hardware announcements, the next feasible release window is on October 13, when we’re expecting to see the iPhone 12 – but again, no Powerbeats Pro 2 were to be seen.

Powerbeats Pro review: Verdict

If you’re looking for a pair of sweat-resistant earbuds that you can wear to the gym, on the trail, on the train or at work, the Powerbeats Pro is worth the money. The Jabra Elite Active 75t is cheaper, but it lacks an ear hook for added stability.

The case extends that to 24 hours of use. Our original pair of Powerbeats Pro battery life still holds well after a year. It’s expected that the batteries will lose some overall capacity. That’s just how lithium ions work, but depending on volume level, we can still end up somewhere between 8-9 hours.

Reset Powerbeats

Hold down both the power button and volume down button for 10 seconds. When the LED indicator light flashes, release the buttons. Your earphones are now reset and ready to be set up with your devices again.

For gym, sports and running use, if you have the money, buy Beats Powerbeats Pro. There is nothing to touch them. Once you’ve used true wireless when exercising, it’s ever so hard to go back to even the most minimally wired buds, and Powerbeats Pro are by far the best workout-friendly true wireless buds.

Based on my brief experience with Powerbeats Pro, I’ve found they have some advantages, and disadvantages, when compared to AirPods. The audio isn’t quite as good or loud as Powerbeats Pro, but it’s good enough for casual use.

yeah the volume is louder but like 10%. it’s noticeable but only a bit more. I use the Powerbeats Pro to listen to Audible audiobooks. It is perfectly adequate for that, even with the windows down at 70+ mph.

Try disabling Soundcheck under the Music app settings if it’s enabled. It is supposed to help making sure volume between different music tracks is consistent but I found with PBP it tends to lower volume of most tracks.

In addition to noise isolation, the Powerbeats Pro offer dynamic range — an audio term that refers to the difference and distance between the loudest and quietest sounds in a track. Overall, I found the Powerbeats Pro to sound louder, clearer, and more all-encompassing than the AirPods.
