Deborah James is survived by her daughter Eloise, 12, and son Hugo, 14 after a tough battle with cancer.

The 40-year-old was a London-born English journalist, educator, podcast host, and activist for charities who received the devastating news that she had bowel cancer in 2016.

Soon after receiving her diagnosis, she went on to host the You, Me and the Big C podcast on BBC Radio 5 to talk about her battle with the disease.

After receiving numerous treatments, James declared in June 2021 that her cancer was spreading abnormally and that the medications she was dependent on were no longer working.

James provided a status report on her health on social media in May 2022, mentioning that she was receiving hospice care at home.

After Deborah James passed away on June 28 from stage 4 bowel cancer, her daughter Eloise, 12, and her son Hugo, 14, are left to carry on her legacy.

Deborah began sharing her experience in her Sun column, Things Cancer Made Me Say, after receiving a stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis at the age of 35.

Although Deborah persevered throughout her ordeal, she sobbed on BBC Breakfast when she talked about her kids. She claimed that telling her children had been abhorrent.

She wrote her kids a ton of letters while she was still alive so they would have something to remember her by on special occasions like their wedding day and first dates.

With the help of her husband, she made sure the kids had gifts for a few key birthdays.
