Keith Washington (born November 15, 1960) is a Detroit, Michigan-based American R&B performer who had a hit single in the United States in 1991 with “Kissing You,” which was also used as background music for an episode of ABC’s General Hospital. “Kissing You” received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance Male and a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single – Male in 1992. The song also spent a week at the top of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list.
Washington also recorded a duet with Kylie Minogue in 1991 (on PWL Records), titled “If You Were with Me Now,” which reached number four on the UK Singles Chart. Washington dabbled in acting in a few roles. In an episode named “A Woman with a Past,” he played as himself on the show Martin, singing a duet with Tisha Campbell-Martin called “The Closer I Get to You,” a classic ballad sung and made famous by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway in 1978. Keith also had a brief part as Keith Jasper on the TV soap opera General Hospital. He also had a little part as a hairdresser in John Singleton’s Poetic Justice, which starred Janet Jackson.
