Barker worked as a garbage guy in Laguna Beach after graduating from Fontana High School and subsequently joined the punk music bands Snot and Feeble, where he met Chad Larson.
Larson went on to co-found the Aquabats, a ska-punk band, in 1994.
Through Larson’s connection, the band was able to hire Barker after local concerts and demo recordings.
Barker, who was still working as a trash guy and “sleeping on [his] friend’s sofa,” just meant to fill in for a few days but ended up joining the band.
The Fury of the Aquabats! was then recorded in the studio with legendary producer Jim Goodwin.
Barker’s quickness and precision allowed him to do anything he wanted once his portions were recorded.
