What does amiodarone do to potassium?

Amiodarone has multiple effects on myocardial depolarization and repolarization that make it an extremely effective antiarrhythmic medicine. Its primary effect is to block the potassium channels, but it can also block sodium and calcium channels and the beta and alpha adrenergic receptors.

What arrhythmias does amiodarone treat?

Amiodarone is a potent antiarrhythmic agent that is used to treat ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. The medicine prevents the recurrence of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and produces a modest reduction of sudden deaths in high-risk patients.
