Suzie Fletcher From The Repair Shop has achieved a weight loss of over eight stones. It was back in 2008 that she gained some weight because of her large appetite in her 40s.
Suzie does not only fix things for people but also gives them back or helps them preserve memories of their loved ones. Several times, her repairing skills have held special meaning to the guest and have also left the viewers in tears.
It is what makes her skills special and why people love the show. Over the years, Suzie has earned several fan followers, and many of them wonder about her strength and fitness despite her age. And there is a story behind it as well.
Suzie Fletcher From Repair Shop Weight Loss
Suzie Fletcher may look healthy and fit despite her age. But, she once had gained weight to the extent that she would have to physically drag herself up the stairs and was always going to the doctor, complaining about knee issues caused by the extra weight she was carrying around. She could not even go to the store without being out of breath.
Thus, she decided to make change her lifestyle. She went to a swimming club, moving to Ely from Surrey while starting a part-time job at Waitrose. Her hard work showed the results she wanted as she lost over eight stone, writes ElyStandard.
She also blamed her large appetite being the reason for the excessive weight gain in her late 40s but insisted that she rarely ate sweets. Thus, she also worked on her diet to lose body fat and replaced fatty snacks with four Muller Light yogurts a day.
Talking about her body size, she mentioned that she was always a chubby kid. And it was when doctors would congratulate mothers for having big babies as that would prove they were healthy.
However, it also made Suzie conscious about her size all the time. But, she did not have to go through what obese kids these days have to, like buying adult-size clothes. Thus, even though she was almost in her 50s, she thought she could turn things around because if Madonna could, then why could she not do it? Thus, she went from size 32 to trim size 12.
How Old Is Suzie Fletcher?
Suzie Fletcher is 57 years old, but her birth date is not mentioned on the internet. She is one of the children among four kids of her parents.
But, she was close with her older brother Steve, who also appeared in the show with her. She said to The Time that they had many similarities while growing up. Steve would always have her around when she was a kid and even show or teach her things that he would learn.
The Master English Saddle Maker was determined to make a career in this male-dominated industry then. So, in 1975, she started training and spent two years at Cordwainers College in London.
As mentioned on her website, after completing college training, she started a formal apprenticeship under Master Saddlers to gain knowledge and skill in saddlery. After that, she took her skills out of the country and lived in Colorado. She settled down with her husband there, but they never had any children.
After 22 years, she returned home and settled in Oxfordshire, setting up a new workshop and continuing her traditional skills. Then, in 2017, she joined The Repair Show after her brother, who was already with the team, persuaded her to join. Thus, she credited Steve, the clock expert, for being a rock in her life and motivating her to be in The Repair Shop.
