Disguise the litter box.

An easy solution is to cut a cat sized square from a cardboard box. Place the box upside down over the litter box. The hole should form a little cat door. Drape a blanket over the box, making sure that the side with the cat door is left open.

Tell your parents what you want to talk about.

Be direct and tell them exactly why you want to talk. Be sure that you do not tell them what to do. You might say something like “Mom, Dad, I would like to talk to you about keeping Wilson,” instead of “You guys have to keep my dog!”

Ask your parents why they want to give away your dog.

Your parents will be more likely to hear you out if you appear mature. Approach your parents at a time when they’re free to talk, such as during dinner. Say, “I know you’ve been wanting to give away my dog and I was hoping we could talk about it.”

Most animal care experts widely agree that three is not a crowd when it comes to owning more than one dog. Unlike that dreaded middle child syndrome you see in three-kid families, having three well-trained pups can be harmonious when the dogs balance each other out.

It’s worth speaking to your GP before you consider rehoming your cat, as it’s possible you could be allergic to pollen, dust mites and even perfumes.

Punishment does not teach your dog (or cat) what to do instead of scratch furniture, bark, dig, etc. Squirting your dog with a water bottle may stop the behavior temporarily. However, this punishment teaches your dog to practice the undesired behavior when you and the water bottle are not present.
