In 2012, Holly auditioned for American Idol, and by January 2013, she was one of the top 24 girls. She was excited about all the opportunities in front of her, and thankful that she had made it so far. However, just before the live auditions, Holly was eliminated.
Holly says that American Idol was the first big closed door she’d ever had, and it led her to wonder why God had allowed her to get that far in the first place. After this disappointment, Holly started making YouTube covers, and continued to sing in her own way.

Holly has collaborated with Toby and Gotee Records in Nashville for the last two years, writing songs and playing with her style. She says she’s written between 70-90 full songs, and she’s been through many seasons to create her own unique style.
Holly made a cover for “All I Need Is You” by Lecrae, and it became apparent that her genre would be R&B and Hip Hop. Holly said that when choosing songs for her EP album, it came down to asking that songs were real so that people would know who she was and what she stood for.
She wanted something people would want to listen to, something frank and open. Holly pointed out that there must be a reason behind the music.
