Heather Walker, the Boston Celtics’ vice president of public relations has died after a battle with brain cancer. She was 52 years old.
In a statement Wednesday, the Celtics were full of praise for Walker and referred to her as “a boundlessly charismatic, giving, and selfless soul,” adding “every room she entered was brighter for her presence.”
Walker had previously been diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma.
Walker collaborated with The Jimmy Fund to launch her Move 4 Heather Challenge after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer, in 2021.
It asked individuals to accomplish something on their “bucket list” or something that affected them, photograph or videotape it, publish it on social media, and donate to the Heather Walker Fund.
The contributions have aided the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The fund has raised more than $640,000 since its inception.
Walker’s spouse, Stephen, and their two daughters survive her.
