It is a spin-off from Arrow, existing in the same fictional universe.
The series follows Barry Allen, portrayed by Grant Gustin, a crime scene investigator who gains super-human speed, which he uses to fight criminals, including others who have also gained superhuman abilities. Sawyer portrays Ralph Dibny and The Thinker in The Flash.

Sawyer’s Twitter account has been deleted, but screenshots of the old posts have circulated online. His firing also comes amid nationwide protests against systemic racism in the wake of George Floyd’s May 25, 2020 killing in Minneapolis.
Hartley Sawyer Petition
Conner Hays and many of Harley Sawyer fans started petitions to Warner Brother over him being fired over racist, misogynistic, and various other inappropriate tweets made between 2009 and 2015. It seems not everyone’s content with the network’s decision, though, as petitions have now sprung up on Change.org calling for The CW to give him another chance.
At the time of writing, the petition only had about 1,550 signatures. It is unclear if The CW will actually listen to this petition and bring him back to The Flash. While these fan campaigns have worked in the past – see: the Snyder Cut of Justice League – this one seems destined to fall on deaf ears.
But you can’t blame the fans for trying and if you want to show your support, you can sign the petition via the link below.
