Early Life and Education
Born on December 23, 1985, in Chelmsford, Essex, Harry Judd is the youngest of three children born to Emma and Christopher Judd. His educational journey took him through several preparatory schools, including Old Buckenham Hall in Brettenham, Suffolk, and Dame Bradbury’s School in Saffron Walden, Essex. He later attended Uppingham School, a prestigious private boarding school in Uppingham, Rutland.
During his time at Uppingham, Judd was not only known for his academic pursuits but also as a promising batsman in cricket. However, his passion for music eventually led him down a different path.
A Career in Music and Entertainment
Harry Judd’s musical journey began when he joined the band McFly. This decision marked the start of an illustrious career in music. Judd’s drumming skills became an integral part of McFly’s signature sound.
Apart from his contributions to McFly, Judd also made appearances on various television programs. Some notable highlights include appearances on “The Paul O’Grady Show,” “T4’s Freshly Squeezed,” and the BBC program “Sound.”
In 2005, McFly guest-starred in an episode of the long-running BBC One drama series “Casualty.” Additionally, they took on roles in the teen comedy film “Just My Luck” alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, contributing their songs to the film’s soundtrack. During this time, rumors of a relationship between Judd and Lohan swirled, though Lohan’s representatives dismissed them as a publicity stunt.
Judd’s versatility extended to television appearances on shows like “Doctor Who” and “Never Mind the Buzzcocks.” He even graced the Channel 4 show “Hollyoaks,” playing a cameo version of McFly’s song “Falling in Love.”
In addition to his music career, Judd embarked on solo ventures, including photo shoots for magazines like Attitude and appearances on shows like “All Star Family Fortunes” and “Celebrity Juice.”
Strictly Come Dancing Triumph
Harry Judd’s talents aren’t limited to music and television. In 2011, he took part in the 2011 series of “Strictly Come Dancing” and emerged as the champion, partnering with professional dancer Aliona Vilani. His impressive performances on the show earned him accolades from judges and viewers alike.
Personal Life and Family
Judd’s personal life has seen significant milestones. He met his wife, Brittany “Izzy” Johnston, during McFly’s 2005 concert tour when she was a part of the string section as a former Escala violinist. The couple exchanged vows in 2012 and has since welcomed three children into their family.
Their journey to parenthood included challenges, with their first child being born through IVF. In 2017, they welcomed a son conceived naturally. Their family expanded once more in October 2021 when they welcomed their third child, a son.
In addition to their family life, Judd and his McFly bandmates actively support the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) through the Eyes Alight Appeal. Founded by Izzy, this initiative raises funds to support BIRT’s rehabilitation programs. The cause holds personal significance as Judd’s brother-in-law, Rupert, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in 1997, inspiring Izzy to establish the appeal.
Beyond his music and family, Harry Judd is known for his passion for Arsenal Football Club.
As of December 23, 2022, Harry Judd celebrated his 37th birthday, marking another year of achievements and milestones in his eventful life and career.
