Hamid Karzai the twelfth and current President of Afghanistan who has a net worth of $20 million dollars. Born in Kandahar, Afghanistan on December 24, 1957, Karzai assumed office on December 22, 2001. He was preceded by Burhanuddin Rabbani and Vice Presidents include Karim Khalili, Mohammed Fahim, and Yunus Qanuni. He is a member of the Independent political party and is married to Zeenat Quraishi and has two children. He attended Himachai Pradesh University and follows Sunni Islam. He is a descendent of the Pashtun and Popalzai tribes. The height of Karzai’s political career came in 2001 after the dissipation of the Taliban regime. Karzai won 21 out of 34 provinces during the 2004 presidential election and was the first political leader in Afghanistan to be elected by democratic practices.
