Who Is Ashley Rodriguez? Death From Staten Island Car Accident
According to the authorities, Ashley Rodriguez was a young girl who died in a car accident on Sunday at the junction of Hylan Boulevard and Richard Avenue in Tottenville.
She was in the backseat of the car with her fifteen-year-old friend Jessie, whose brother was riding in the car with them.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the sixteen-year-old boy was driving the Mustang car and was going at a hazardous speed at the time of the collision.
The car collided with a GMC Yukon as it made a left turn onto southbound Richard Avenue at Hyland Boulevard at 8:50 p.m.
As the information provided by the police department, the Mustang car drifted from the left lane into the right lane and crashed into the Yukon. Then it got smashed by a tree, collided with a telephone pole, and came to a stop.
Ashley and her friend Jessie were pronounced dead on the spot. The sixteen-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital in an emergency, but doctors could not save his life.
The GMC Yukon had a four-passenger inside, and a forty-seven-year-old driver was deriving the vehicle. Inside the vehicle were forty-four-year-old women, twenty-three-year-old men, nineteen-year-old girls, and eleven-year-old teenagers.
Fortunately, they are all in good condition, only have minor injuries, and were admitted to the hospital for medical care.
It was unclear whether the 16-year-old driver had a learner’s permit, which would have required him to be accompanied by a licensed driver over the age of 21. Although some 16-year-olds are eligible for junior licenses, they are not permitted to drive alone inside the five boroughs.
Last year, the city reduced the speed limit on Hylan Boulevard to 30 miles per hour. Since 2014, there have been twenty-one traffic deaths along the road.
