Glenn Thompson is married to Penny Ammerman-Thompson.

The couple has three sons; Kale Thompson, Parker Thompson and Logan Thompson.

Although Glenn Thompson’s children’s names have been identified, their details are under the radar.

Nonetheless, Congressman Glenn Thompson attended his gay son’s wedding last week, three days after opposing a bill in the US House that would enshrine protections for same-sex marriage into federal law, NBC reports.

Thompson’s son, who is not being named as he is a public figure, told NBC News on Monday that he ‘married the love of [his] life’ on Friday and that his ‘father was there.’

Thompson’s office said in a statement that the Pennsylvania congressman and his wife were “thrilled” to attend the nuptials and are “very happy” to welcome a new son-in-law into the family.

Maddison Stone, a spokeswoman for Thompson said; “Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life.”

“The Thompsons are very happy to welcome their new son-in-law into their family”, Maddison Stone added.

The Supreme Court upheld same-sex marriages as a right guaranteed under the 14th Amendment in its 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Glenn Thompson was one of 157 House Republicans to oppose the legislation, which would codify the right to same-sex and interracial marriages nationwide.
