Saltz is the sister of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Adam Riess and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Cornell-Weill Medical College and The New York Presbyterian Hospital.
