Michael and his wife Frankie Lipman bravely and openly share their tale in Concussion.

Before he met Frankie, the harm was already done to Michael. He was a middle-aged former football player who occasionally exhibited unusual behavior and memory loss when they first fell in love.

Since then, Michael’s difficulties have worsened, and he and Frankie have had children together. They will have to live with Michael’s degenerative brain disorder in the future.

A concussion is a highly personal and insightful journey into the knowledge of CTE. Anyone who plays contact sports has to read Michael and Frankie’s message because it is vital, poignant, and significant.

More On Concussion By The Authors

One of the most significant concerns in contact sports today is a concussion. The effects of frequent head bumps have just been properly known in the last ten years, and science is still catching up.

However, it is now recognized that dementia caused by repeated concussions may start in people as young as their thirties and forties, thanks to the finding of CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, in the brains of deceased players.

This occurred to former rugby player Michael Lipman, who revealed publicly in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia and possible CTE.

Struggles The Lipman’s Have To Faced Amid His Concussion

In her opinion, the worst experience of Frances Lipman’s life was when her husband left their infant unattended in a cot for an hour and a half.

According to BBC, Michael is always disoriented, which terrifies his wife. He occasionally has a mixed night with dawn in one or two situations.

After Michael dissed a bartender, the Lipman’s are barred from their neighborhood pub for a year. One morning her spouse awoke in a neighbor’s automobile. He shrugged it off for years, but it’s no longer amusing.

Frances knew that her husband’s health would only worsen, acknowledging it had been a significant turning point for them and their family.

Additionally, Frankie noted that the concussion and head bumps are to blame for all of these issues.

Lipman’s Domestic Career In England

In the summer of 2001, the 42-year-old signed with the Bristol Shoguns team, and during the seasons of 2001–2002 and 2002–2003, he featured in 21 games in the Zurich Premiership.

Lipman joined Bath after Bristol was demoted in the 2002–03 season. He participated in more than twenty games for Bath during the 2003–04 season, including Heineken Cup matches.

After rupturing a ligament in his ankle in February 2005, he could not play out the season.

Due to a double dislocation of his cheekbone and eye socket incurred in a preseason victory over Exeter Chiefs in August 2005, he played fewer games throughout the 2005–06 season.

When Michael Lipman was sidelined by injury in late 2006, he immersed himself in volunteer activities. His upbeat and dedicated demeanor helped him win the Community Player of the Year title for 2006–07.
