Francis Rossi, OBE, is an English singer, musician, and songwriter who was born on May 29, 1949.
He is the lone surviving co-founder, lead guitarist, lead singer, and co-founder of the rock band Status Quo.
as playing trumpet in the school orchestra in 1962 as a student at Sedgehill Comprehensive School, Rossi grew close to future Status Quo bassist Alan Lancaster.
The two created a group named the Scorpions with their classmates Alan Key (drums) and Jess Jaworski (keyboards), and they performed their debut show at the Samuel Jones Sports Club in Dulwich.
Key was subsequently replaced by future Quo member and Air Cadets drummer John Coghlan, and the group was renamed the Spectres.
