Frances Tiafoe’s Brother, Franklin Tiafoe: Facts To Learn About

Franklin Tiafoe, the twin brother of American tennis star Frances Tiafoe, also played tennis but never reached the same level of competition as his brother. Here are some interesting facts about him.

The world is well familiar with Frances’s professional life, and The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has Frances rated as high as no. 24 in singles on August 8, 2022, and no. 160 in doubles on November 1, 2021.

Franklin won his first and only ATP title at the 2018 Delray Beach Open, making him the youngest American to do so since Andy Roddick in 2002.
Meanwhile, Franklin, Frances’s twin brother, is also attempting to carve a place for himself. Though Franklin was also a tennis player by himself, he never had a regular relationship with a coach while his brother became a top athlete.

He would practice by himself instead. He still aspired to become a professional tennis player, but because of his background as a troublemaker, he believed that no one took him seriously.

Franklin Tiafoe: Frances Tiafoe Twin Brother

Frances Tiafore’s twin brother, Franklin Tiafore, also participated in the same sports. He also played tennis, though not to the same level as Frances.

At DeMatha High School in Maryland, he was a standout student. After that, Franklin competed in one season of collegiate tennis at Salisbury University but never turned professional. According to his father, “He wasn’t particularly interested.”

Franklin has only competed in a few ITF professional tournaments so far. His father, Frances Sr., was able to visit America several times before making a permanent move. Soon after, Franklin’s mother, Alpina, won the Green Card lottery in the United States.

Both of his parents ultimately settled in College Park, Maryland, where they met and had twin babies, Frances Jr. and Franklin.

A few years later, Frances Sr. accepted work in construction at the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC), where he assisted in constructing the courts and subsequently was promoted to head of maintenance.

When the boys were younger, Frances Sr. would take them to JTCC while he performed his shifts. They would assist by removing the rubbish, picking up the balls, sweeping, and watering the clay courts.

Moreover, the brothers occasionally picked up racquets to play when a court was available. Frances frequently spent the night sleeping in the massage room at the JTCC because her frequent exposure to tennis fueled her desire for double shifts as a nurse.
