Brian Michael Jean is a former Leader of the Opposition in Alberta and the last leader of the Wildrose Party in Canada (2015-2017). Brian served in the House of Commons from 2004 to 2006, representing the Athabasca riding, and from 2006 to 2014, the Fort McMurray—Athabasca.
After quitting the House of Commons in 2014, he announced in February 2015 that he would run for the leadership of the Wildrose Party. On March 28, 2015, he was elected as the party’s leader.
For Jean, winning the by-election in Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche was a means to an end, not an end in itself. It was explicitly ending the career of Premier Jason Kenney.
