According to intellectual property expert Douglas Bania, American actor Johnny Depp’s image was damaged by Amber Heard’s domestic violence charges in a 2018 op-ed.
Bania, who was an expert witness for Depp, specializing in intellectual property losses and valuation, highlighted the decline of Depp’s image since 2016 while presenting testimony in Fairfax County Circuit Court on May 2.
He presented the jury with charts displaying his analysis of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s Q score (a method for determining celebrity likability) and Google search results.
Before 2016, Johnny Depp’s search results were generally favorable and banal, according to Bania’s research. His Q score plunged between the time Heard filed for a restraining order against Depp in May 2016 and the time she authored the op-ed in late 2018, as his Google search results revealed a lot more negative news coverage.
Heard will testify in Depp’s defense. Depp’s side is expected to wrap up its case soon.
