Emma Watkins News

She doesn’t look happy! Wiggles star Emma Watkins looks downcast as ex-husband Lachlan Gillespie appears to get friendly with the band’s female backup dancers on tour

Updated On: 18th September 2018

They announced the end of the marriage last month after beginning a secret trail separation in February.

And last week Emma Watkins appeared downcast as she was spotted at a Queensland service station with her ex-husband, Lachlan Gillespie, while The Wiggles continue their tour around Australia.

While the 28-year-old struggled to crack a smile, her former partner, 32, was seen in high spirits as he spoke to a number of the band’s female back-up dancers.

Emma, who is known for her bright and bubble demeanor, appeared to keep her distance from Lachlan and at times failed to raise a smile while around him.

The group stopped at a petrol station on Wednesday night to refuel, buy supplies and clean their cars’ windscreens for the continued drive ahead.

Emma, who sported a black dress with a white collar, was spotted peering out a window with a solemn look on her face as she lined up at a service desk inside.

Meanwhile, Lachlan was spotted outside with a squeegee in hand as he chatted away to a female performer.

What looked to be a friendly exchange, he laughed and placed his hand on the entertainer’s shoulders during their chat.

The brunette rugged up in a pair of form-fitting black leggings and a bright blue jacket.

He later exited the service centre with another member of the group, who was dressed in an all-black ensemble and holding a shopping bag.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to The Wiggles for comment.

While Emma has previously admitted she was the one to initiate the split, she has hinted at a possible hope of reconciliation over the past two weeks.

Emma and Lachlan announced their shock split on August 3, but they actually broke up earlier this year, with Lachlan moving out of the pair’s marital home in Sydney when they commenced a ‘trial separation’ in February.

‘I think being busy has been very helpful. Now it feels like a bit of a relief. Now it feels like we can still work on that relationship, and we are,’ she candidly told ABC’s Australian Story on Monday.

It’s unclear whether Emma meant that she and Lachie are working on rekindling their marriage, or whether they are working purely on their professional relationship.

The twosome tied the knot in Bowral in 2016, meaning that their marriage lasted less than two years.

Despite their split, the pair have continued to work together in The Wiggles and related projects.

They recently finished filming the latest season of Emma’s spin-off series, Emma.

Emma Watkins Endometriosis

The Wiggles’ Emma Watkins Opens Up About Her ‘Frightening’ Endometriosis Battle

Earlier this year Emma Watkins pupularly known as the yellow Wiggle, opened up about her harrowing battle with endometriosis which forced her to bow out of the group’s Aussie tour and undergo surgery.

Now the beloved performer has opened up in more detail about the debilitating disease and her private struggles.

Speaking with Australian Story, Watkins revealed how she felt “really tired and run down” as well as bleeding, nausea and cramping before finally collapsing one day while in the recording studio.

“She was just absolutely in agony and she couldn’t get up and she didn’t know why,” estranged husband and bandmate Lachlan Gillespie recalled.

“She just had such strong cramps and couldn’t move. So that was really frightening.”

Emma was later diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, the most severe form of the disease and she underwent surgery in April 2018 and took just six weeks off for recovery.

The 28-year-old was torn with how to publicly deal with her situation, knowing that if she simply took a break from performing “everyone would think I was pregnant”.

She ultimately decided to be open about her battle which will no doubt help countless others who are going through the same thing, or who have the same symptoms and might be inspired to seek help because of her story.

Endometriosis is a common disease that occurs when uterine tissue grows outside the uterus (most commonly the surrounding reproductive organs, bowel and bladder), resulting in unusually intense period pain, ovulation pain, heavy menstrual bleeding and fertility issues.

According to Endometriosis Australia, 10% of women suffer with endometriosis at some point in their lives, with the disease often starting in teenagers. Symptoms are variable and this may contribute to the 7 to 10 year delay in diagnosis.

Emma joins a growing list of stars who are speaking out about their battle with the disease including actress Lena Dunham and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm.
