Elvis Duran Weight Loss
Elvis Duran shared his story saying; “When I was growing up, I was sort of a loner. I didn’t have a lot of friends because I didn’t think anyone really liked me. I wasn’t a very popular guy, and I think it’s because I didn’t have confidence.
Today, there is this acceptance of me, and my opinions, on my radio show, which has helped my confidence a little bit. But at the same time, I still have a problem with confidence — especially when I was overweight. That changed over the past year.
There is a visual aspect to radio that you don’t expect, and when I did appearances or TV I could never find clothes that would fit properly. I would get frustrated trying to get my shirt to button, and I’d be very uncomfortable in my clothes. When I was feeling tense, I would find myself in the refrigerator.
I’ve been battling with my weight issues since I was a teenager. I’d be skinny one year and chubby the next. As I got older and my metabolism disappeared, it became harder and more difficult to lose weight. I had a little bit of success with Weight Watchers — it worked a little bit and then I would fall off the wagon and screw it up.
Then, one morning, Dr.Mehmet Oz was up here and he was checking our blood pressure. He took mine and he said, “Oh, OK, you’re alright.” Then we went to a commercial break and he said, “Look, I didn’t want to say anything on the air, but your blood pressure is so high, you probably should go to the hospital now.”
And I’m thinking “Really?” And he said, “You’re not good.” He got my attention quickly. I started getting more physicals and seeing all of these specialists. They all said the same thing: “You’ve got to lose weight.” Duran then embarked on a dramatic weight-loss journey which led him to lose 105 pounds in eight months, going from 265 to 160 pounds.
“I feel awesome! I’ve got all this energy,” Duran, who was 51 then, told “Nightline” in an interview. “It’s still kind of a shock. I don’t even know who I am. I look at old pictures of me … and I don’t feel like I’m that guy anymore but then I look at pictures of me now and I’m not quite sure I’m this guy. So I don’t know, It’s kind of confusing. I’m an alien living in someone else’s body. It’s kind of strange.”
Duran of the mega-popular “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show underwent a bariatric surgical procedure called a “gastric sleeve,” where 85 percent of his stomach was removed.
“Going through this procedure is a lot of needles, a lot of blood work, a lot of testing. It’s a lot,” he said. “And then after the procedure, you have to re-teach yourself how to eat. It all starts with fluids.
You eat fluids for weeks and weeks and slowly introduce solids into your life. It’s not easy. It’s not easy at all. I would not recommend this for anyone unless they truly had to save their life by doing it.”Duran said.
Elvis Duran Boyfriend
Having come out as gay in 2010 broadcast, the expert Z100 radio host’s longtime boyfriend Alex Carr who is 38 got down on one knee and asked Duran, 54, to marry him in June 2018. They had been together for almost eight years. This was derived from Carr’s Instagram announcement;
“I was born on Friday, June 13th. I’ve always considered myself to be lucky and blessed, as I was when Elvis came into my life almost 8 years ago…first as my boyfriend and now fiancé!!!! They say opening umbrellas in the house brings bad luck, but this time I don’t believe it. I love you Elvis Duran!” he continued.
Alex Carr, a zookeeper from Staten Island, creatively proposed to Duran with the help of a black umbrella that had the message, “Elvis, Will You Marry Me?” written on it.
The good news was also confirmed on the “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” website.“We are so happy to announce that Elvis and his partner Alex are getting married!”
Since the engagement in June 2018, Elvis has discussed the stresses of planning a wedding live on-air – most especially the guest list! He also told US Weekly magazine that his wedding is going to be a BIG JOKE! Duran joked on the new issues of Us Weekly, “It’s gonna be the worst day of my life.”
He then became serious and said. “No, it’s gonna be a happy party. That’s what it’s gonna be. To be able to stand up there with Alex and just prove to the world. Here’s proof. You’re seeing it. This is my guy. I’m his guy. We’re moving forward together, and we’re married. I said the word ‘married.’ That’s gonna be a weird one to get used to.”
Duran wishes they could tie the knot at city hall, however, the zookeeper, Carr, convinced him to organize a more lavish affair. “He wanted a big wedding for his mom, and he talked me into it. Now I’m into it,” he explains.
“Now I’m having fun working with him to plan the wedding. It’s gonna be a big thing.”The couple is set to exchange vows on September 2019. Although they do not have honeymoon plans yet, though they will “do something” to celebrate.
