Doug Savant and Laura Leighton have been wed since 1988. They had their first child, Jack Douglas, on October 10, 2000, and their second child, Lucy Jane, on June 9, 2005.
They have two more daughters from Doug Savant’s previous marriage, Arianna Josephine Savant in 1992 and Madeleine Marie Savant in 1993.
Their father, Douglas Peter Savant is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as Matt Fielding in the Fox prime-time soap opera Melrose Place (1992–1999) and as Tom Scavo in the ABC comedy-drama series Desperate Housewives (2004–2012).
Savant began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in guest roles on several television shows, including Married… with Children, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Party of Five. In 1992, he was cast as Matt Fielding in Melrose Place.
Matt was a gay social worker who was one of the first openly gay characters on a primetime soap opera. Savant’s portrayal of Matt was praised by critics and fans alike, and he won a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series in 1994.
In 2004, Savant was cast as Tom Scavo in Desperate Housewives. Tom was a stay-at-home dad who was married to Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman). Savant’s performance as Tom was praised by critics and fans alike, and he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2005.
