Don Hertzfeldt Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Don Hertzfeldt (born August 1, 1976) is an American animator and independent filmmaker who works in the entertainment industry. As the director of many animated films, he is best known for It’s Such a Beautiful Day, The Meaning of Life, and the Academy Award-nominated Rejected, among others. His films have won more than 200 accolades and have been shown in over 100 countries across the globe. Hertzfeldt’s short films have been dubbed “some of the most impactful animation ever produced,” according to the film critic. It was written by the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 that “If cinephiles believe that short films don’t get the same level of attention and fandom as feature films, they clearly haven’t heard of Don Hertzfeldt.” In his book, he says “”Hertzfeldt is either a singular occurrence or maybe an indication of a new path ahead for individual animators living independently on their own terms,” argues author Stephen Cavalier in his book “The World History of Animation.” In the student and alternative audiences, he garners the sort of fervent devotion that is typically reserved for indie rock artists.” It’s Such a Beautiful Day was released in 2012, and it’s the culmination of Hertzfeldt’s short film trilogy about a guy called Bill (Everything Will Be OK, I Am So Proud of You, and It’s Such a Beautiful Day) into a seamless new feature film. The film, which had the same title as the third instalment in the series, was released in limited distribution in the fall of 2012.

Hertzfeldt was voted the ninth best film director of 2012 by the annual Indiewire critics poll, while the L.A. Film Critics Association selected it as the runner-up for the Best Animated Feature Film of 2012. (tied with Wes Anderson). The AV Club’s film reviewers selected It’s Such a Beautiful Day as the eighth best film of 2012 on their list of the year’s best films. Following a limited release in the United Kingdom the following year, the film was rated third on Time Out London’s list of the ten best films of 2013, and fourth on The London Film Review’s list of the same year. A large portion of Hertzfeldt’s income comes from self-distribution, which includes ticket revenues from theatre screenings and tours, DVD sales, and television broadcasts, among other things. He has turned down all advertising opportunities. In 2014, Time Out New York rated It’s Such a Beautiful Day as the sixteenth best animated film ever made on their list of the “100 Best Animated Films Ever Made.” Hertzfeldt now resides in the city of Austin, Texas. After completing college in Santa Barbara, California, he settled there for a long period of time. Since 1999, he has maintained a regular blog on his website.
