During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fox frequently criticized the British government’s response and encouraged people to violate the government’s social distancing rules and other public health restrictions. During an interview on Good Morning Britain, he said that “if the NHS can’t cope, then the NHS isn’t fit for purpose”. Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, the show’s hosts, condemned his remarks. He took part in an anti-lockdown protest during a national lockdown in March 2021. After being reported for allegedly breaking rules during his election campaign, he was also visited by police, though no action was taken.
