YNW Melly, an American rapper, and singer whose real name is Jamell Maurice Demons got arrested and charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder of two of his friends in 2019.
The Florida hip-hop artist faces the potential of life imprisonment or death sentence if evicted. In the early hours of October 26, 2018, Melly is accused of killing Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams, two members of his YNW crew.
Thomas and Williams were allegedly driven by Melly and Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry to a secluded place, where Melly fatally shot them.
They allege that Henry then transported the dead to a neighboring hospital while making up the story that the crew had been shot in a drive-by. Along with being an accessory after the fact, Henry is also accused of the murders.

YNW Melly’s trial is scheduled to begin on July 6, 2022, after numerous delays. The 22-year-old rapper went from posting freestyles on SoundCloud and working with Kanye West and Young Thug to being jailed without bond after being accused of killing his friends.
The state has mobile phone data that show where Melly was when the murders happened. They may also use a number of Instagram messages from the day of the killings as evidence.
In the early phases of the investigation, a number of significant witnesses provided statements to the police. However, once Melly got charged, they frequently skipped their scheduled depositions and would not reply when the state tried to contact them.

When asked if they believed Melly ordered any crimes, the prosecution said, “Yes. The killing of his mother was authorized by drug trafficking and gun offenses, according to what you can see on his phone. You would classify those as actions you have “authorized.”
