Did Michael Peterson Sue The State?

There is no concrete evidence if Michael Peterson has sued the state or not on the internet.

Michael Peterson is an American author who was found guilty in 2003 of killing his second wife, Kathleen Peterson, on December 9, 2001.

Peterson was granted a second trial after the court found that a key prosecution witness had given false evidence.

The Staircase, a French documentary miniseries about Peterson’s case, began shooting shortly after his arrest in 2001 and followed events until his ultimate Alford plea in 2017.

Michael Peterson Affair And Death of Second Wife Kathleen

Michael Peterson married Patricia “Patty” Sue, an elementary school teacher, in his first marriage.

Michael Peterson was a veteran who served in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam from August 1968 to September 1969.

In 1965, they married and relocated to Durham, North Carolina. Before going to Germany, they had two boys named Clayton and Todd Peterson.

At first, Michael appeared innocent because he was the one who contacted 911 after discovering Kathleen at the bottom of their stairs.

Kathleen was allegedly beaten to death when a medical examiner observed many lacerations on her scalp.

The crusted blood on her head indicated that Kathleen had been there for some time, and Michael was the only person in the house at the time, making him the only suspect.

Where Is Michael Peterson Now?

Michael was found guilty of Kathleen’s murder by a jury on October 10, 2003, and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of release.

The author entered an Alford plea to voluntary manslaughter in 2017.

Peterson was resentenced to 86 weeks in jail, although he was released as he had served more than that.

He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina, although Kathleen’s house has been sold. According to ABC 11 News, the house was on the market for $1.9 million.

His son Clayton informed North Carolina’s News & Observer in 2021 that he had been living with his first wife, Patricia, for the last two years until her death after a heart attack.
