In 1992, Diana moved back East and was contracted at WLTX-TV, the CBS member in Columbia, S.C. She put in a couple of years there, covering state legislative issues, wrongdoing, and training as a general task correspondent. She additionally tied down the night report.

At that point, Diana moved to the Upstate and took a job at WSPA-TV, where she labored for a long time, before landing at FOX Carolina in 2004. At FOX Carolina, Diana centers around every day announcing, particularly on cash sparing issues, and securing the night broadcasts.

Her Most memorable story

She spent several nights on the streets of Greenville, talking to people who are homeless.  It gave her a renewed sense of the challenges they face.  One of the best parts of the story was meeting a local man who dedicates his time to delivering food and faith to those he meets.  Another story that really touched her was an Upstate woman who donated one of her kidneys to a teenager she barely knew.  I will never forget her strength, determination, and kindness.

Community Service Projects

Diana is active with the United Way of Greenville.  She currently serves as Chair of the Women’s Leadership Council and loves to spend her free time mentoring at a local elementary and middle school. She is also a big supporter of Harvest Hope Food Bank and The Julie Valentine Center.

Viewers of Fox Carolina’s evening news programs might think they know Diana Watson, but they don’t see the hours of off-screen service she dedicates to the community each week.

Her most important life’s work is her family, being a mom to her 17-year-old twins, Leo and Lindsay, and a good wife to her husband, Michael, she says. But her life’s work is also about balancing her family life with her professional life. No matter what role it is, she strives to do her best every day.

Watson is the Chair of the 2018 Campaign for the United Way of Greenville County. As a major aspect of that administration, she promised to visit every one of the United Way’s 68 offices this year. She has nearly finished that errand, visiting around five every week.

She also added that the Upstate’s friendly, caring people reflect true beauty.

“I think having a big heart makes someone beautiful,” she says. “It’s not just about giving to others but about empathizing and knowing that doing something kind, whether big or small, can make a difference.”
