When legendary Sir Alex Ferguson announced the signing of David De Gea from Spanish club Athletico Madrid, few Manchester United fans were openly excited. Edwin Van Der Sar had just left the club and, for anyone watching his performances, replacing him would be a Herculean task. After a shady start to the game, De Gea wowed all his critics with a jaw-dropping keeper.
the biography
David De Gea is a goalkeeper for the Spanish national team who plies his trade for Premier League club, Manchester United. and the Spanish national team.
David De Gea was born on 7 th November 1990 in Madrid and grew up in Illescas. He started playing at the age of 13 when he joined Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
De Gea worked his way through the ranks and made his senior debut for the club in 2009. After installing De Gea as their first-choice goalkeeper at Los Roji Blancos, he helped the club win both the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2010.
During his time at Madrid, De Gea had always been seen as the apparent successor to national team legend Iker Casillas for his display in the Atletico Madrid shirt.
His improved performance for Atletico attracted Manchester United and De Gea was signed for £18.9million in 2011. The fee was then a British transfer record for a goalkeeper.
In his time at United, De Gea won a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a League Cup and the UEFA Europa League. He had a stuttering start at United and was criticized by the press in his first season for his inability to control his penalty area. His rather lean physique did little to improve his lot.
However, he put the jitters of the first season firmly behind him, winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award consecutively for three seasons, becoming the first player to win the award three times.
As a child, De Gea admired former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, but was compared to another great United player, Edwin Van der Sar, the man he replaced at Old Trafford, often nicknamed Van der Gea
De Gea was among the most controversial transfer activity of the summer of 2015. On 7 th August 2015, he was dropped from the squad for the league opener against Spurs due to uncertainties over his future by Louis Van Gaal. Madrid keeper Keylor Navas has been agreed between the two teams after a summer of speculation on the 31st of August.
The transfer was ultimately unsuccessful as the necessary documents were not submitted before the Spanish transfer window closed. The failed transfer led to both clubs pointing fingers at the US hierarchy, blaming the failed deal on a faulty fax machine, while Madrid counterparts accused United of conspiring for the deal to fall through and for the documents are intentionally sent late.
After the transfer debacle on September 11, De Gea signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United with a one-year extension option. The Spanish keeper hasn’t looked back since.
David De Gea captained his national team at under-21 level from 2011 to 2013, he made his senior debut in 2014 and was selected for the World Cup that year without making an appearance for Brazil. The tournament ended in disaster for Spain. He was crowned 27 times by his country.

David De Gea is currently in a relationship with Spanish singer Edurne Garcia. The couple have no children together. She was born on December 22, 1985 in Madrid, capital of Spain.
The couple seem perfect together and there are no rumors as to how their relationship is hiding behind the public eye. They are often seen attending public ceremonies together much to the delight of their fans. Probably in the future, the two celebrities could decide to do what we expected from the beginning.
Height and body measurement
The world of goalkeepers is a big one and Davidse stands at an impressive 192cm (6ft 4in) tall. Being as tall as him gives him the advantage of being able to dive and cover any edge of the goal post that a ball is shot at. However, to achieve this, it must also be lightweight. His weight of 83 kg (183 lbs) is in no way an obstacle in carrying out his duties for his club and his campaigns.
