Darrius Heyward-Bey was born on February 26, 1987 in Silver Spring, Maryland. After attending McDonogh School, he was one of most sought after future NFL players. He was recruited by the Michigan State, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Alabama, and Boston College but he chose to study at the University of Maryland where he played collegiate. Eventually, he decided to forego his senior year at the university to declare himself eligible to be drafted into the NFL Draft.
Darrius Heyward-Bey debuted into NFL in 2009 when he was selected as the 7th pick of the Oakland Raiders in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. On July 30, 2009, he agreed to a five-year $38 million contract with the Oakland Traders. He played with the Raiders from 2009 through 2012.
