The study examined the influence of socioeconomic background on the academic achievement of students in selected public secondary schools in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. The stratified sampling technique was used to select 120 students from five public schools, while the simple random sampling technique was used to administer the questionnaire (pre and post-test).
