Cole Pensick, a former offensive lineman for the Nebraska Huskers, went away abruptly after a terrible car accident in the eastern region of Nebraska.
Pensick allegedly ran a stop sign at a T-intersection in Polk County early on Saturday morning at 6:45 a.m., according to the Omaha World-Herald. His pickup truck veered off the road and collided with some trees about 14 miles (24.14 kilometers) southwest of Columbus.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Pensick was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was only 32 years old.
During his final season at Nebraska in 2013, Pensick was a crucial member of the offensive line that helped the Huskers become one of the top rushing teams in the Big Ten. Despite having a knee issue that year, the coaches chose him for the Big Ten second team.
Pensick graduated from Nebraska in December 2012 with a degree in agriculture and went on to complete two months of graduate-level study while still playing football.
We offer our condolences to Pensick’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. This is a tragic loss for the Nebraska football community.
