Coal Chamber is a nu metal band from the United States that was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1993. Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón founded the band She’s In Pain in 1992, which served as a precursor to Coal Chamber. The two of them came to the decision to form Coal Chamber. After 10 years together, they decided to call it quits in 2003, but they announced a reunion in September 2011. Mike Cox ultimately took over for Jon Tor, who had been the band’s original drummer (who beat out his older brother for the spot). Coal Chamber’s lineup was complete when bass guitarist Rayna Foss joined the group in 2011.

Coal Chamber was the band’s first album, which was released in 1997. “Loco,” a hit from the album, was also made into a video. The video was also included as an extra after the credits in Dee Snider’s film Strangeland, where it was shown after the credits. A new song by the band, named “Not Living,” was also produced exclusively for the soundtrack. Two years later, Chamber Music was added to the repertoire. Between the two albums’ release and the band’s tour with the metal band Sevendust, bass guitarist Rayna Foss married Sevendust’s drummer Morgan Rose and got pregnant, requiring the addition of another bass guitarist to the band’s touring lineup, which was filled by Nadja Peulen. Foss returned to the studio for the recording of Coal Chamber’s third album, but she departed after the sessions were completed to care for her daughter. It was published in spring 2002, and it was titled Dark Days. The tune “Fiend” was the band’s sole single and video release.
