NBA head coach Jacque Vaughn’s wife is Laura Vaughn, who was his college sweetheart at the University of Kansas.
The Brooklyn Nets hired him as interim head coach on 1 November 2022 after they parted ways with Steve Nash. He was named permanent head coach on 9 November.
Initially, he was appointed as Kenny Atkinson’s senior assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets before the 2016-17 campaign. In March 2020, he was promoted to acting head coach when Atkinson left mid-season.
The 47-year-old went 7-3 in 10 matches and assisted the Nets to the first round of the playoffs, although they were playing without injured Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and other athletes who didn’t participate in the second half.
The Nets signed Steve Nash as their head coach on 3 September 2020, and Vaughn resumed his role as an assistant coach.
