Three years after receiving a cancer diagnosis, Bryant & May series detective novelist Christopher Fowler passed away at age 69.
Fowler became most well-known during the Second World War and up until the current day for his thrillers that featured the seasoned detectives Bryant & May resolving peculiar crimes in London. The series’s introductory book, Full Dark House, was published in 2003.
Currently, there are 17 more volumes in the series, the most recent of which, London Bridge Is Coming Down, was published in 2021. The previous year saw the publication of Bryant and May’s Peculiar London, a follow-up that explores the characters’ London.
Fowler’s first book, Roofworld, a fantastical thriller set in 1988 about a hidden community existing atop London’s buildings. Several books with a supernatural bent, such as Spanky, Disturbia, Rune, and Psychoville, came after this.
