Chelsea Hobbs husband James Neate is the owner of the construction company Neate Biulds in Vancouver. James is also an actor and model.
Hobbs is a well-known Canadian actress known for portraying Gerda in the 2002 film Snow Queen and Emily Kmetko in the ABC Family teen drama television series Make It or Break It.
Born and raised in Vancouver, she entered the world of film and television at just eight years old.
As a child, she filmed over 80 commercials and appeared in the kids’ improvisational TV series No Adults Aloud. Her first big break came when she starred in Snow Queen alongside Bridget Fonda.
She also received a best actress Leo Award nomination following her remarkable performance in the mini-series.
It wasn’t long after that Hobbs landed her own pilot in Fox’s Save the Last Dance. She then graduated high school through homeschooling and moved to Los Angeles alone at age 17.

Neate started his career as an international fashion model working for top brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prade, Guess, and Lacoste. However, modeling wasn’t the job he chose initially.
Just after he finished high school, he went to college to study business with plans to be involved in his family’s company, JJ Bean, a Canadian coffee chain, roaster, and coffee retailer.
After he finished college, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
During that time, he had his friend take a few pictures of him and send them to local agencies. Soon, Liz Bell contacted him, and they started working together. Shortly, he booked his first job with British Vogue.
Later, he moved to New York to take modeling more seriously. Most of the agencies rejected him, saying he looked much like an actor.
It kind of brought a smile to his face as the acting was to be his eventual career path. Gaspard at Request Model then took a chance on him.
Neate was having a lot of success as a fashion model in NY in his early 20s. “The glitter-filled lifestyle had gone to my head, and I didn’t like the person I had become,” he told to DH News.
After enjoying a thriving modeling career in NYC, he returned to Vancouver to pursue a new passion, creating custom furniture for his family’s business and challenging himself in new creative ways, acting.
As of writing, Neate has already added 20 credits to his name as an actor. He made his debut in the 2009 short film Runaround.
He can be seen playing the role of Jack in The Man in the High Castel Season 3. Other credits include The 100, Van Helsing, Lucifer, Chesapeake Shores, and A Mother’s Fury.
James runs a construction company in Vancouver. The company primarily focuses on home renovations and specializes in custom furniture projects.
Chelsea and James Got Married Three Years Ago
Chelsea Hobbs got married to James on January 1, 2020. The happy couple celebrated their three years wedding anniversary in 2023.
The pair got engaged in October 2019. Neate announced the news via a sweet Instagram post the next day. “Last night I got on a knee and asked my soulmate to be my wife,” he wrote in the post.
On their first anniversary, Hobbs shared a beautiful picture of them on IG and gushed about how it took two years for Neate to convince her to go on a date.
“He was far too handsome to be a good guy, I thought,” she wrote. “I was cautioned and warned to guard my heart but from day one I somehow knew it was safe,” the actress added.
Soon, she turned off all thoughts relating to fear and decided to love him. On their first date, they started talking about getting married and having children.
At the time, Hobbs had two kids from her ex-husband Teren Oddo, a photographer, whom she married in 2007. The former couple divorced in 2014, after seven years of marriage.
From the beginning, Neate always loved and adored the kids. After several months of dating, the pair started the adventure of becoming parents together.
The actress was pregnant with their baby boy at the time of the wedding.

She shares two kids with her ex-husband
Hobbs shares two kids -daughter Wylie and son Kingston- with her first husband, photographer Oddo.
The pair welcomed their first child, Wylie, on March 24, 2006, making her a true Piscean. She is 17 years old and already looks like a supermodel. She is pursuing a career in music.
Oddo is active on Instagram under the username @wylieoddo, with over 1.1k followers. She is also available on TikTok.
Her younger blood brother, Kingston, arrived on April 27, 2011. He is twelve years old and is regularly featured on his parents’ Instagram posts.
Hobbs and Neate welcomed their first child in 2020
The couple’s first child, son Jones, was born on May 21, 2020, in the comfort of his own home in around an hour and a half.
Although they planned on going to the hospital, their little baby had another plan. “It was messy and scary and fast but somehow perfect,” the actress wrote on her IG on May 26.
He was born with his loving aunt looking through the window, midwives in masks, and paramedics in their full-body protective gear.
Lucy, the youngest addition to the family, arrived on January 21, 2022. She was a premature baby, born two months early in BC Women’s Hospital. She weighed 1.7kg as a newborn.
“5 weeks, 3 hospitals, and an emergency C-section later we got the meet this beautiful little girl,” wrote Neate on IG on January 23.
Lucy spent 38 days in the intensive care unit before coming home. Again in May 2022, she was rushed to the hospital because she was having difficulty breathing.
She has since recovered and is now a healthy one-year-old baby girl.
