Van Dien was born on 18th December 1968 in Milton, Florida. His mother Diane was a nursery school teacher, and his father Casper Robert Van Dien, Sr. was in the U.S. Navy. Not only his father but his grandfather too was a marine during World War II. The street in New Jersey where Van Dien grew up was called Van Dien Avenue – it was named after his great-grandfather. Because of his good looks, he used to be referred to as Ken as in doll.
Casper later moved to Los Angeles to try his luck in movies. He first appeared in a daytime soap opera called “One Life to Live”. This was followed by “Beverley Hills, 90210”. He married Carrie Mitchum in 1993. Carrie is the granddaughter of Robert Mitchum. However, the two separated in 1997. The couple had two children – Cappy and Gracie. Van Dien again married Catherine Oxenberg in 1999. He filed for a divorce last September 2015, citing irreconcilable differences.
