Jonathan Vance, a retired general, pleaded guilty to charges of obstruction of justice on Wednesday morning which is put against him.
General Jonathan Holbert Vance, CMM, MSC, CD, is a former Canadian Forces officer who worked in the Canadian Army as a general. From 2015 until 2021, Vance served as the Chief of Defense Operations.
Vance was accused of obstruction of justice in regards to sexual assault allegations in July of 2021. The civil litigation hearing, in this case, is scheduled for May 2023.
He joined Force Mobile Command as an infantry officer in The Royal Canadian Regiment after completion in 1986.

Jonathan Vance, the previous head of the defense committee, was ordered to 80 hours of unpaid work, after admitting guilt to one allegation of obstruction of justice in a case that rocked Canada’s army.
Throughout a digital court session in which the former Canadian Armed Forces commander spoke through video, Ontario Judge Robert Wadden handed down the sentence, which also contained 12 months of probation.
Wadden also directed Vance to stay away from Maj. Kellie Brennan, with whom he had a long-standing intimate connection that began in 2001 and continued until early 2021, according to an accepted statement of facts presented in court.
According to the summary of the case, Vance neglected to declare the affair, putting him at risk of being punished under the National Defense Act.
He then tried to prevent her from telling security forces the entire extent of their affair. Johnathan’s behavior was regarded by Wadden as a severe violation as per the source.
