Camelia Somers, granddaughter of the renowned TV legend Suzanne Somers, is making a name for herself in the world of entertainment. Her journey, marked by talent, determination, and a family legacy, promises a bright future in Hollywood.
Camelia’s debut on the CBS daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2015 set the stage for her blossoming career. Hailing from Brentwood, California, in a family deeply rooted in Hollywood, it was only natural for Camelia to gravitate toward the performing arts from a young age. Her parents own an advertising agency, and she took her first steps in the spotlight at the tender age of 2 when she starred in her inaugural commercial.
Camelia’s love for musical theater became evident early on, and her powerful vocal range, combined with her passion for the performing arts, led her to secure lead roles in over a dozen musicals in children’s theater. Her talents extended to dance, as she spent seven years on a competitive dance team.
High school beckoned, and Camelia attended Harvard Westlake School, where she embraced a challenging academic curriculum while simultaneously pursuing her passions. She joined the award-winning Chamber Singers, showcased her leadership skills as the captain of the cheerleading squad, founded the HW Dance Team, and seized the opportunity to portray iconic characters in musical theater, such as Rizzo in “Grease” and Amber in “Hairspray.”
Determined to maintain a foothold in the entertainment industry, Camelia made the choice to continue her education in Los Angeles. In 2015, she enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC). Here, she earned not one but two prestigious academic scholarships—the four-year Presidential Scholarship and The Town & Gown Scholarship. Her studies at USC revolve around Chinese language and culture, complemented by double minors in business and film. Camelia’s vision for the future involves merging her passions for singing, dancing, and acting on the international stage.
Camelia’s ambitions are not limited to the United States. Her professional journey led her to Beijing, where she worked with Lionsgate’s Chinese distributor for “The Hunger Games.” This experience provided her with a firsthand understanding of Hollywood’s impact on the Asian market. Furthermore, her proficiency in Mandarin broadens her horizons, potentially unlocking a myriad of opportunities in a market of over a billion and a half people.
In the summer of 2015, the creator of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Brad Bell, introduced the character of Charlotte specifically for Camelia. Much like Camelia herself, Charlotte is a sophomore at USC and takes on an intern role at the prestigious fashion house, Forrester Creations. We watched Charlotte navigate the world of high fashion, running errands for her superiors, and striving to leave a positive impression with her infectious smile. In an unexpected twist, her character becomes entangled with Thomas Forrester, portrayed by Pierson Fode. What awaits Charlotte next is known only to Brad Bell and the show’s writers.
Inherited from her iconic grandmother, Suzanne Somers, Camelia has been described as fresh, sexy, and intelligent, with a million-dollar smile.
