People are sad to hear about the California Bus Accident, as 13 people died in this accident. Learn more about the California Bus Accident update.

According to authorities, a tour bus collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 10 close to Palm Springs, California, killing at least 13 people.

The bus impacted the semi-truck because it was driving more quickly than it was, according to California Highway Patrol Border Division Chief Jim Abele, while traveling from Red Earth Casino in Thermal, California, to Los Angeles.

The front of the bus was destroyed.

He added that it needed to be clarified how fast the bus was moving. According to him, the 1996 bus did not likely have a black box like modern buses.

California Bus Accident: 13 Dead, 31 Injured In Fatal Bus Collision

According to a state police official, there was “no appearance of braking” when a tour bus collided with the back of a tractor-trailer on Sunday near Palm Springs, California, killing the driver and 12 passengers and wounding many more.

Jim Abele, Chief of the Border Division of the California Highway Patrol, informed reporters that there were no skid marks from the bus at the time of the collision. “The big rig was being pushed forward and left the only skid marks.”

Around 5:17 am PDT on Sunday, the 1996 MCI bus, operated by USA Holiday, struck the tractor-trailer on its way back to Los Angeles from the Red Earth Casino near the Salton Sea.

The bus arrived at the casino between 11 and 11:30 pm on Saturday and left at 4 am on Sunday, according to the chief, who claimed to have heard this information from an officer there.

According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau, ten slain were women, and three were men.

According to Abele, a manifest created by the casino listed the passengers as well as the owner and operator of the bus company as the bus driver.

Authorities claim that the bus, which Abele claimed lacked seatbelts, was the only one the firm ran. Late on Monday, it was impossible to contact Vides’ family.

Given its damage, authorities noticed that the bus might have moved considerably more quickly than the vehicle. Officials pointed out that a probe is ongoing, and whether the bus driver exceeded the speed limit is unknown.

Early reports said that the driver perished in the collision. Although the driver has not been named by California Highway Patrol (CHP) authorities, Elias Vides was given as his name by Alhambra neighbors.

The bus that was damaged belonged to USA Holiday. There were no seat belts on it. Based in Alhambra, USA, Holiday only employs one driver and owns one bus.

How Does The Bus Accident Happen In Palm Springs?

According to Abele, the incident occurred in the absence of fog. He claimed a maintenance worker had been intermittently laying wires over the road, slowing vehicles, including the trailer.

Abele said, “The bus was moving much faster than the tractor-trailer it struck from behind.”

According to Abele on Sunday, Guilford told authorities he “felt a thump in the back, but he didn’t know what specifically happened.”

To assist with the ongoing investigation, representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were scheduled to visit the region on Monday.

Officials said they hope to uncover a data recorder to determine the bus’s speed and the driver’s actions before the collision. They did warn that the bus might not have had a data recorder on board because it was 20 years old.
